Although everyone is saying the earthquake and subsequent tsunami of Japan had no effect on Costa Rica...this does not appear to be entirely correct.

Over the years Uvita has had one glaring character trait that made it stand out from anywhere else in the world. The beach here was truly a masterpiece of Mother Nature.

Since the Japan earthquake of March 11, 20011, things will never be the same in Uvita.

It might be difficult to imagine but its true...the world famous Uvita Whale's Tail has DISAPPEARED.

It appears that this unique character trait has been submerged by a meter and a half of sea water. What was once walkable at low tide is no longer. The new low tide is still settling higher by over a meter and consuming the Whale's Tail.

The Costa Rica news are reporting that it is expected to not return any time soon if ever.
